This customised solution offers many advantages over a conventional Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). There is no need to purchase blocks of 8 analogue inputs, when only 1 is required. You are not paying for core features such as a real-time clock, or fieldbus port which may not be required. Quite simply, a customised solution is more cost-effective.

There are also advantages over using discrete components, such as temperature controllers, timer relays and switches. The greatest saving is that intermediate wiring between components is completely eliminated. Taking out this wiring loom provides a neater installation and takes up less room as well.
